Stardust NExT

As explained by the Lockheed Martin website, "Stardust is the first U.S. mission dedicated to exploring a comet. In 2004, the spacecraft performed a thrilling flyby of the comet Wild 2 at a distance approximately 150 miles from the comet nucleus, using a unique substance called aerogel. This marks the first time ever that cometary material will be brought back to Earth for scientific analysis. Cometary dust carries clues to the primordial cloud of dust and gas from which the Sun and planets formed. Stardust also has retrieved samples of interstellar dust streaming into the solar system from the direction of Sagittarius."
