SOFIA Finds First Existing Molecule

This week, NASA's Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) finally, after many years of searching, identified a helium hydride molecule in space, the first ever type of molecule formed in the universe. Scientists believed that this molecule formed 10,000 years after the big bang, when the universe started to cool and atoms began to combine.
